WP Realty acquires Wells Plaza

WP Realty, a real estate investment, development, management and leasing company headquartered in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, is pleased to announce the acquisition of Wells Plaza located in Wells, Maine, on November 27, 2007.

Wells Plaza is an 88,638 square foot community shopping center located at the intersection of US Route 1 and Wells Plaza Road in the town of Wells in York County, Maine. Wells is an important tourist destination, with more than six miles of beaches, and is densely developed with shops, restaurants and inns that cater to tourists. Route 1, locally known as Post Road is the main thoroughfare along the coast of Maine, and has traffic counts of approximately 20,000 vehicles a day. Wells Plaza has excellent visibility with 249 feet of frontage along this heavily traveled road. The center is also in close proximity to the intersection of Routes 9 and 109, with easy access to I-95 (the Maine Turnpike).

The property consists of two one-story buildings and is anchored by Reny’s department store in 31,843 square feet and Dollar Tree in 15,640 square feet. Other notable tenants are Bank of America, Radio Shack and Wells Cinema. There is a signalized intersection along Route 1, and Wells Plaza Road runs through the site, providing access to Wells Plaza and also its shadow anchor, a newly renovated Hannaford Supermarket. Hannaford is the dominant grocer in Maine. There is also an out-parcel opportunity for a junior anchor with a pad of up to 7,000 square feet.
